After the night we had I began to wonder if perhaps he just wasn't latching on well. But when the midwife visited in the morning she said he was and wasn't hungry so was clearly feeding well. It turned out he had a sore tummy due to the mucus I got him down to his vest and lay him on my chest rubbing his back while chatting to the midwife. She suggested we have a bath together and I'm so glad she did. The only bath I ever got to have with him. As he lay on my chest he calmed again and had a very smelly nappy. It turned out that was all he needed because after which he was back to his content self. We had lunch and Andy ran us a bath. Andy got to change his smelly nappy a job many dads complain about doing but now a dear memory to Andy. Angus loved the bath and was so settled, he got a good feed and when he was happy Andy took him and got him dried and dressed. Something we thought he would be doing for a long time, you never think that dressing your child is something you could take for granted but we did and we long to do it once more. Angus slept well and fed well for the rest of the day. We spent the evening staring at him, he had just started to open his eyes, until now he only opened one and looked like a pirate! He was so alert, he looked at us both so intently with his big brown eyes, oh how we miss those eyes. It felt like there was such a connection between us, I held him so close to my face and Andy took a small video, which we now hold so dear.
